Women business owners supporting each other

Members of The Canyons women business owners gather at a holiday party. Left to right: Kelly Snodgress, Allison Pulaski, Kayla Dittmeyer Zahler, Susan Bicket, Meghan Angermann, Jennifer Johnson, Allie Grasspointner, Joy Pursell, Hope Marie Hooper and Natasha Macintyre.

A group of women business owners living in The Canyons neighborhood have formed a networking group. The aim is to create a collaborative space where members can share ideas, celebrate successes and build a sense of community.

“We thought it would be good to bring like-minded women together in a social setting who can support one another as we walk through this journey of being business owners and in similar phases of life,” said Hope Marie Hooper.

Hope and her business partner, Joy Pursell, share a combined 40 years of experience in real estate. Their friendship grew into a professional partnership after moving into the neighborhood.

“As moms and business owners, we are busy. We want to maintain a work-life balance where we are giving plenty to our families but we also care about our careers,” Hope explained. “By joining our partnership, we were able to take the burden off of each other.”

The group has nearly 30 members of all ages and different backgrounds that include a diverse range of industries. The group meets monthly at The Exchange Coffee House and has created a private Facebook business page.

Meghan Angermann retired from the U.S. Navy after 21 years of service. She transitioned into an entrepreneur role as an independent director for Pampered Chef.

“One of the reasons I joined Pampered Chef was because I knew I was going to want to continue to connect with people after I left the military,” Meghan shared. “The connections I have made with other consultants has become a giant sisterhood for me and it’s fulfilled in me something I knew I was going to miss.”

By coming together, these women are proving that collaboration, not competition, is the key to thriving in both career and family life.

“When we moved here, we needed a house that we could afford with good schools and easy access to the city. I had no idea this amazing community would come with it. The group was built out of this community,” said Joy.

“I wouldn’t have known to even dream about having this business support within my neighborhood,” concluded Hope.
