Glynis Albright, resident of Castle Pines Village, has officially entered into the running to be 2011 Woman of the Year by The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS). LLS holds its annual Man & Woman of the Year campaign, which kicked off March 14 and will culminate on May 20, at the Grand Finale Gala in downtown Denver.
Albright, owner of the Just Sweet Enough healthy dessert company, was diagnosed with leukemia at age 37. Albright is supporting research for this blood disease, as well as a little boy named Addison Kleinhans, now six, who is this year’s Boy of the Year with LLS. Albright’s strength and courage, not to mention generosity, have gone a long way in raising donations for this young cancer victim and his family through their battle.
Albright’s close friend, Wendy Grega, had this to say about the Woman of the Year nominee: “Glynis is the most amazing, hard working woman I know. She runs circles around most women, and works until 2 a.m. most evenings on her cookie dots and pound cakes that she created for cancer survivors.” Grega continued, “Glynis is funny, energetic, and full of hope even after four major cancer surgeries herself. She hosts numerous fundraisers for blood cancers and just hosted a Pokeno night to benefit blood cancer patients and their families. She will be holding a belly dancing evening at her home and a friendship ladies high tea this summer for LLS as well. She has the biggest heart of Gold!”
