We Believe!!

Pictured above is Mrs. Kennedy’s third grade class from Buffalo Ridge Elementary (BRE) following a performance of “The Polar Express,” The third grade team at BRE uses a reader’s theatre format for the play to emphasize the use of expression and intonation in reading. Each third grade class had several performances of the play for the younger classes at the school and the students’ families. Each performance came with a cup of hot chocolate and a miniature candy bar and, of coarse, a sleigh bell that rang for those who truly believe.

As the first half of the school year wound down, American Academy (AA) teachers put together more extracurricular activities for their students. Mr. Astler called for American Academy sixth through eighth graders to join him for the Team America Rocketry Challenge which started on November 7. Mr. Leadbetter and Mrs. Pieseski organized a debate team for grades six through eight on Thursdays, which began on December 9. And Mrs. Williams is organizing a knitting club for grades four through eight on Tuesdays which will begin on January 4.

For more information on any of these clubs, check out the After School Activities page on the American Academy website at www.americanacademyk8.org, and e-mail the teacher in charge.
