In 2004, Castle Pines resident Mimi Brosh began volunteering with oncology patients at Children’s Hospital Colorado. “I enjoyed volunteering there,” explained Brosh, “and in 2008 the director of volunteers asked me if I was interested in volunteering at La Cache, an antiques consignment shop founded in 1982 to help fund Children’s Hospital Colorado. I started the next week.”

La Cache volunteers proudly assist patrons in the unique shop that helps raise money to support Children’s Hospital Colorado. Since 1982, the shop has contributed more than $5 million to enhance services at the hospital.

“I’ve noticed that the community feels strongly about consigning or donating items to benefit our cause,” affirmed Brosh. “Many repeat customers browse around the store and mingle with the staff. We enjoy helping them and are thankful for their donations.”

“I find that volunteering at La Cache invigorates me, and working with the other volunteers and shoppers is fun,” smiled Brosh. “There is a community atmosphere and we have regular shoppers who have become our friends. I never want to miss a day.”

Brosh’s good friend, Natalie Roesch, joined her as a volunteer at La Cache a few years ago. “I decided to tag along with Mimi one day to visit La Cache, and I liked it so much I started volunteering,” stated Roesch. “I enjoy interacting with the shoppers, volunteers and the people who bring in donations.”

Although La Cache is recognized as a high-end consignment store, the volunteers welcome unique and unusual items in good condition to be considered for consignment or donation.

This store is a jewel for anyone who enjoys scouting out crystal, art, antiques, fine linens, sterling, jewelry and furniture. Walking down the aisles and chatting with the volunteers is a social experience. Forty percent of the proceeds are donated to Children’s Hospital Colorado.

La Cache is located at 400 Downing Street in Denver and is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The store is closed on major holidays and during severe storms.
