Two million ways to help
Last year, starting in January with a kick-off beginning November 1 and official Giving Day on December 10, a record-breaking amount of more than $2 million was raised for 268 participating Douglas County nonprofits, including a wide range of organizations – from support of our aging community and youth mental health to equine therapy and local food pantries.
The Colorado Gives Foundation’s (CGF) Colorado Gives Day takes place in December every year, highlighting the importance of giving locally. The statewide celebration of philanthropy is the biggest 24-hour giving movement in the state and one of the most successful giving days in the nation. And since Colorado spans over 104,000 square miles, CGF relies on regional champions to connect locally and expand giving.
The Douglas County Community Foundation (DCCF) is proud to be Douglas County’s regional champion through Douglas County Gives – one of the top regional champions in the state – bringing together qualified nonprofit organizations that recognize the strength of an empowered and collaborative nonprofit community.
“We are deeply grateful for the participating nonprofits and incredibly generous donors from around our community that made this year’s Douglas County Gives so successful,” said Kirsten Swanson, executive director of DCCF. “Despite being a very affluent area, there is still much need in Douglas County, and there are more than 800 local nonprofits striving tirelessly to serve those needs. This financial support will help them continue their vital work to keep our community thriving every day.”
Through the statewide Colorado Gives Day program, more than $54 million was raised and over 245,000 donations were made by more than 94,000 donors. Ongoing donations can be made to Douglas County Community Foundation at dccf.org/donate.html.
