Traveling To and From School Safely

No matter the child’s age, parents have one thing in common – safety! Follow these simple tips to help children stay safe when traveling to and from school.

Map out a safe way for children to walk to school or to the bus stop. Do a trial run.

Teach children to follow traffic signals and rules when walking or biking.

Explain the importance of using cross walks and listening to crossing guards.

Supervise children whenever possible, or arrange for them to walk to school or the bus stop with a friend or sibling.

Teach children to not talk to strangers, go anywhere with them, or accept anything from them.

Help children to memorize their phone number and address.

When driving children to school, make sure to slow down in school zones and stop for all crosswalks
