Saturday, June 11 was the second concert at the brand new Miller Activity Complex (MAC) amphitheater in Castle Rock.  The venue was hosting The Beatles impersonation band, The Fab Four, with an opening act by The Relics.

The amphitheater is located just southwest of the MAC Recreation Center on Plum Creek Parkway.  Parking is limited, but free shuttle service is available from the Douglas County Fairgrounds.  The amphitheater is open yet intimate.  Its set-up included indoor and outdoor bars as well as an outdoor stand selling various crepes.

The orchestra seating is up-close and personal.  It provided staggered levels where you could sit on blankets or lawn chairs.  While the instructions said to bring low profile chairs only, many brought regular sized camping chairs.  For an extra $10 per person you could purchase box seating with a table and chairs for four that included table service for food and beverages throughout the event.  Less expensive lawn seating is offered behind the five orchestra rows.

Unfortunately rain and lightning interrupted the night, but all patrons were able to huddle inside the Millhouse and attached covered patio complete with fire pit.  The patio overlooks a very pleasant water feature and pond.

Castle Pines Chamber member Trudi Chapa remarked, “This place is great!  What a wonderful venue!  I will definitely come here again!”  For more information about upcoming concerts visit their website at www.crgov.com/2618/Celebration-Concert-Series.

The amphitheater’s orchestra seating (as seen from the stage) ensures there are no bad seats in the house.
