“The International” Golf Tournament to Bring Additional Traffic to Community

by Belinda Paredes

The International at Castle Pines Golf Club will be held this year from August 7-13. Residents of CPN may feel an impact from the tournament in a number of ways, notably increased traffic and busier restaurants, stores, and gas stations.

Residents who drive Daniel’s Park Road to Highway 85 will be especially prone to traffic problems, as one of the tournament’s major general parking areas is located on the northeast corner of that intersection in the area that is usually an open field. Those who plan to drive north on Highway 85 from this area may want to consider driving north on Daniel’s Park Road, and west on Griggs Road to Highlands Ranch.

Other event parking areas are located at the I-25 and Happy Canyon exit and in Castle Rock around the outlet mall. I-25 generally experiences a significant increase in traffic during the weekend rounds of The International.

Next year, The International will be moved to July 2-8. Event organizers hope that more high-profile players will be able to attend the tournament during this time period than in the early August time frame.
