Singing without musical accompaniment is an art form that may be lost on the younger musical generation, but it is alive and well in the Castle Pines community. The Castle Cappellas are a volunteer ladies a capella group. Most choir members live in Castle Pines North, Castle Pines Village or Castle Rock and range in age from 35 years and older.

“Our purpose is to share the gift of music by celebrating patriotic and religious music,” said Cappellas’ director Cindy Kessinger-Wenninger.

The group has been performing since March of 2008. Their first performance was for the Republican 18th Judicial Assembly, singing “The Star-Spangled Banner.” The group has performed at Castle Pines Community Church and The National Day of Prayer at Cherry Hills Church.

They have also performed at The Denver Tea Party at the State Capital building in Denver, The Lincoln Day Dinner, and The Wildlife Experience for the Christmas of Lights event.

The group recently sang at a candidate debate in Castle Pines North and for The Republican State Central Committee Meeting, with their most recent performances being the Castle Pines North Independence Day Celebration on July 3, and the Hidden Pointe July 4th event – both at Coyote Ridge Park in Castle Pines North.

The group is hoping to perform all over Castle Pines and the surrounding areas. They are available for events such as weddings, funerals, luncheons and dinners.

Their repertoire consists of patriotic, Christian and holiday songs and has included such favorites as, “Danny Boy,” “Amazing Grace” and “Irish Blessing.”
