Task Force Needs Volunteers
The Douglas/Elbert Task Force, a non-profit agency providing emergency assistance to those at risk of homelessness, needs volunteers in its Thrift Store and Food Bank.
Task Force volunteers work in Thrift Store donations intake, sort, price and stock store merchandise, cashier and assist in the Food Bank. Volunteers receive training, mentoring, store discounts, gifts certificates and other benefits. Those over 55 years of age are eligible to become Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) volunteers as well and receive additional benefits.
The Task Force served 12,457 individuals in crisis in 2006; over 50% were children.
