Summer Movie Packs the Park

by Terri Wiebold

Let me tell you…Solid Life Christian Center really knows how to throw a party!

The much anticipated Castle Pines community summer movie in the park drew record crowds to Coyote Ridge Park on August 22. Neighbors in Castle Pines Village, Surrey Ridge, Charter Oaks, Beverly Hills, Oak Hills, and Surrey Ridge Estates joined Castle Pines North residents in the festivities this year, bringing the number in attendance of this annual event to an estimated 900 to 1,000 people!

Solid Life Christian Center sponsored the event, which featured DreamWorks movie Kung Fu Panda. Families arrived at the park around 6 p.m. to enjoy jump castles and peruse the sponsor booths before picking the perfect spot to enjoy the show. Solid Life also ran a concession stand with hot dogs, nachos, popcorn, sodas, cotton candy, and a wide selection of movie candy.

As the sun set, Solid Life introduced the event sponsors and featured a slide show on the big screen with individual commercial spots shot for each event sponsor. Brad Stutzman, a film student at Biola University (and son of Pastors Russ and Becky) put together the 30 second spots. Movie goers then donned their glow-in-the dark glasses and climbed into sleeping bags to enjoy the feature presentation.

The overlying theme of the movie – for anyone who didn’t have the opportunity to see it – is that there is no secret ingredient to making something special, you just have to believe it to be…that the special ingredient is you! Thank you to the Castle Pines community for being the special ingredient to make this event such a fun and fabulous one.

A special thanks go to Solid Life Christian Center for keeping this annual event alive, and to the contributing sponsors: The Castle Pines Connection; City Wide Roofing; the City of Castle Pines North and CH2M HILL; and Dr. Dunbar of Castle Pines Orthodontics.

See you at the park again next year!
