Over four days, these disabled veterans hiked 100 miles from Westminster to Colorado Springs in support of Suicide Prevention and Awareness Month.

September is National Suicide Prevention and Awareness Month. Suicide rates are disproportionately high among veterans. According to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, veterans comprise nearly a quarter of suicide deaths in the U.S. To help raise awareness, a local chapter of Semper Fi & America’s Fund – a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing resources and support to combat wounded, critically ill and catastrophically injured members of the U.S. Armed Forces and their families – walked through Castle Pines to help raise awareness.
