Strike a pose…

By Amanda Merriman

The latest social media craze has thankfully moved on from the Water Bottle Challenge.  Over the past month and a half, it has been all about the Mannequin Challenge.  What is the Mannequin Challenge, you ask?  It is believed to have been started by high school students in Florida who wanted to raise awareness about testicular cancer.  The challenge consists of a short video during which the videographer walks through a scene where everyone appears frozen in time.  There is usually a theme or story associated with the video.  Somewhere along the line, everyone started using Rae Sremmurd’s song “Black Beatles” as background music.

There are many creative Mannequin Challenges to be found on various social media outlets such as Instagram, Twitter or Facebook.  Ralphie the buffalo (CU Boulder), the Denver Broncos, Plum Creek Church of Castle Rock, and the Rock Canyon High School volleyball team have all gotten in on the action.

There is still time to get in on this latest viral sensation that is fun, less noisy than flipping water bottles and a lot warmer than a bucket of ice over your head!  So strike a pose and represent 80108.  Be sure to tag us www.facebook.com/castlepinesconnection on Facebook if you do.
