Stetsons & Stilettos fundraiser at BRE

Buffalo Ridge Elementary (BRE) held its annual gala fundraiser this year called “Stetsons & Stilettos” at Kirk Hall on the Douglas County Fairgrounds on Saturday, February 6.  There were 160 parents, teachers, and administrators in attendance at the event, which raised $48,000 for the school.  In a continuing effort to get a one-to-one ratio of iPads (for kindergarten through second grade) and Chromebooks (for third through fifth grade) for each student, the school has officially reached its 1:1 technology goal!

The event included catering from Tony’s Market, as well as wine and beer donated by Bubbles Liquor Store.  Auction baskets were online and available to be seen and bid on before the event, as well as during the event through a mobile bidding app.  Live bidding also took place with the help of a hired auctioneer and included a used car that was sold for $50.

BRE parents and co-chairs of fundraising Kristen White and Mary Elizabeth Lowen, along with BREA co-chairs Lisa Recine and Valerie Miller, headed up the wildly successful event.  Miller commented, “Kudos to the community for coming together for a very specific goal.  It was a great night for teachers and parents to come together to socialize and form some much needed community building!”
