Judicial District Spring Citizens Academy

The 18th Judicial District is now taking applications for its upcoming Spring Citizens Academy. The seven-week course looks at the role of various members of the District Attorney’s (DA) office.

Students will explore the different functions of the specialized units in the DA’s office including the Special Victims Unit, Economic Crimes Unit, Cold Case Unit, Crime Scene Investigations, County Court and Juvenile Justice. They will also learn the intricacies of a jury trial.

Applicants must live in the 18th Judicial District, which includes citizens living in Douglas County. Participants must be 18 years of age or older and able to pass a criminal background check.

The application can be found at http://www.da18.org/community-outreach/citizens-academy/ and must be completed by March 6.
