Sparkle and Shine

A new twist on the annual daddy-daughter dance at Timber Trail Elementary allowed the students to invite any adult of their choosing. This year’s Spring Fling, “Sparkle and Shine,” had 252 attendees, which included parents, grandparents and other dates of choice.

The event was not mandated as formal, but guests arrived dressed in their best. The school entrance made way for sparkly pink sequin carpets lined by jumbo pink, teal, and purple balloons. Sparkling crowns and rings were available for purchase, and white twinkling lights that lit up the gym dance floor. In between dances, guests enjoyed photo booth fun and were invited to customize a photo frame keepsake using gems.

Fourth grader Audrey Gertz said, “The dance was sparkling, welcoming and there were so many fun things to do this year! I loved dancing with my friends and my dad.”

Each participating student received 10 tickets for gift basket drawings. Although Gertz did not win, she shared, “So many kids got such amazing baskets, so that was awesome, and I was so happy when two little kindergartners won. It was the best night ever!” she concluded.
