Slash and mulch site open
Information provided by Douglas County
Removing tree limbs, shrubs and brush (slash) from your property is essential for wildfire risk reduction.
Douglas County’s slash and mulch site at 1400 Caprice Drive in Castle Rock is open to dispose of unwanted slash on Saturdays only from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. through October 31. Residents can dispose of limbs, shrubs and brush, as well as take fresh mulch home for use in landscaping.
Due to the current public health guidelines, please follow any instructions from on-site staff, stay in your vehicle until you are ready to unload and observe the social distancing mandate of at least 6 feet from others unloading their vehicles.
Acceptable items include tree limbs, loose pine needles, shrubs, brush with a maximum length of 6 feet and a maximum diameter of 12 inches. All loads must be covered upon arrival to the slash-mulch site.
Items that will not be accepted include appliances, dirt, grass, household trash, lumber, railroad ties, roots, stumps and weeds.
During open season, a county operated loader will be available to load free wood chips for homeowners to use as mulch. Material can be picked up anytime during the season that the site is open to accept slash.
In the event of inclement weather, please call 303-663-6274 to ensure that the site will be open as scheduled.
