Senior Life Expo offers resources
Information provided by the Castle Rock Senior Activity Center
A free event will be held on April 21 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Douglas County Fairgrounds Events Center in Castle Rock to provide older adults and their families with information about services and programs for seniors in Douglas County.
Last year the Castle Rock Senior Activity Center organized a small senior resource fair. It was a great success and a much-needed outlet for reaching older adults and their families with programs and services in the community. Building upon that event, the senior center decided to offer an even larger and more comprehensive resource fair; thus the Senior Life Expo was born.
Attendees will be able to talk with representatives and organizations about housing, home care, insurance, estate planning, assistance programs and services, as well as social activities offered at the Castle Rock Senior Activity Center.
Seminars with topics of interest to seniors are scheduled every half hour from 3:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. A free program resource book listing contact information for the partners, organizations, individuals and companies presenting at the event will be available to everyone who attends the expo.
“We hope to make this an annual event to provide much needed information to the growing senior population in the county,” said Debbi Haynie, executive director of the Castle Rock Senior Activity Center. “There are many people advocating for seniors in the county, but it is hard to get the word out and even harder for seniors to find this information. We thought it was time to bring everyone together to share our resources.” She encouraged family members of seniors to also attend the expo.
