Second Wind Golf Tournament – CPN Kiwanis Club to Host Third Annual Event
by Terri Wiebold
The Kiwanis Club of Castle Pines will host its third annual golf tournament at The Ridge Golf Course in Castle Pines North on Thursday, September 13. The cost is $200 per person, which includes an amazing day of golf and an awards dinner at The Ridge Restaurant. Proceeds from the tournament go to the Castle Pines Kiwanis Foundation, with the primary benefactor being The Second Wind Fund of Douglas County.
Second Wind of Douglas County provides free counseling to high-risk children and teens identified by schools, doctors, hospitals or churches.
Peggy Claar, spokesperson for The Kiwanis Club of Castle Pines, has been a member of the CPN community for 20 years and had this to say about the Second Wind Fund: “As the community grows, so do our issues. We are fortunate to have programs like Second Wind to help address the issue of teen suicide and depression,” she said. “ The members of Kiwanis work to help all children, but the Castle Pines Club chose Second Wind to support because many of us have been affected by suicide, and unfortunately recognize that it is not a problem easily solved.”
Claar estimates that entering into its third year, the tournament has made a difference in the lives of approximately 30 young people in Douglas County, and says it is a really good cause.
According to Susie Helmerich, Sales Manager of The Ridge Golf Course, “We are always thrilled when there is an event to benefit the local community. We look forward to this event and hope that it continues to grow.”
