Seasonal trees go green at neighborhood lot

Sedalia Nursery will offer fresh-cut Christmas trees in the community this year, at a tree lot on the northwest corner of Lagae Road and Castle Pines Parkway (in the Walgreens shopping center). Tree sales begin just after Thanksgiving and run through Christmas Eve.

“We will be offering live cut trees and live planted trees from six feet tall to 30 feet tall,” said Larry Livingston, Castle Pines resident and owner of Sedalia Nursery. “We will also have potted trees that are planted in containers and are three or four feet high that can be used and decorated for a Christmas tree and then transferred to a patio outdoors.”

The nursery offers planting services for live trees, a process which involves a day-long acclimation period for the tree in the customer’s garage before bringing the tree in the house to allow it to adjust to indoor temperatures. Ultimately, the tree is then transferred and planted outdoors in the customer’s yard after the holiday is over.

“If the ground is too frozen to plant the tree, we place it in your yard in a container and then plant it when the ground thaws,” said Livingston.

Sedalia Nursery also provides for conversion of trees into mulch following the holidays. Trees can be delivered to Sedalia Nursery in Sedalia for disposal. “We are passionate about trees and doing this in a way that is good for the environment,” said Livingston.

Trees range in price from $50 to $300. For safety, customers at the lot should pull into the parking lot of the Walgreens shopping center rather than parking on Castle Pines Parkway.

Note:  A portion of all proceeds goes to benefit the Castle Pines Chamber of Commerce, The Salvation Army, and the American Red Cross.
