Scuba diver sets records

David Moore entering Pacific Tarn lake. He created a high altitude record by being the oldest diver to scuba dive this lake and only the third person to do it.

Last summer, we reported on scuba diver David Moore aiming to be the oldest diver to conquer Pacific Tarn, the lake with the highest elevation in the United States (13,420 feet), and the first to dive the lake without relying on anyone for dive support. Due to inclement weather last year, the dive was postponed until recently. Moore (58), a resident on Blue Terrace Way, succeeded his mission and dove the picturesque lake nestled in the Colorado Rockies just west of Breckenridge.

Chris Hummel (left) and David Moore (right) hiked McCullough Gulch Trail, a 12.3 miles round-trip trail to get to Pacific Tarn lake, 13,240 feet in elevation.
