The Douglas County School District (DCSD) has created a way for residents age 60+ who live in Douglas County to attend most high school athletic events and fine arts programs for free. The Gold Card is for home events at nine area high schools: Castle View, Chaparral, Douglas County, Highlands Ranch, Legend, Mountain Vista, Ponderosa, Rock Canyon and ThunderRidge.

“It is a way of saying thank you to our older Douglas County community for the many years of support and contributions to DCSD schools and students,” according to the DCSD website.

It is free to apply for the Gold Card whether online or in person. Eligible parties can visit dcsdk12.org/goldcard and will need to upload a valid Colorado driver’s license with residency verification. To apply in person, visit the DCSD Administrative Building at 620 Wilcox in Castle Rock. The Gold Card does not expire.

The events that honor the Gold Card are sorted by school and by date on the Gold Card webpage. There are a handful of exempt events, to include playoff games and those not played in the district, but a senior discount on tickets may still apply. Exempt events and games are listed online.

To use the Gold Card, present it at the ticket booth for your free ticket. It is not possible to purchase tickets online with the Gold Card, and reserved parking is not included.

For more information on the perks of the Gold Card and the terms and conditions, visit dcsdk12.org/goldcard or email the DCSD communications department, apfister@dcsdk12.org.
