Sassy Soiree sweet deals
by Eean Gersack
The Sassy Soiree is the fall event in Douglas County. It’s the place to shop, dine, visit with friends, and have fun all while supporting the Douglas/Elbert County Task Force (Task Force). Women, men, friends, co-workers, families and businesses are all invited to take part in this great event for an even better cause.
This year’s 8th annual Sassy Soiree is planned for Friday, September 16, at the Douglas County Fair Grounds. The boutique and silent auction open at 10 a.m. followed by lunch at 11:30 a.m. and the fashion show at 12 p.m.
Task Force volunteers have been busily finding the best-of-the-best donated clothing and jewelry from the Task Force Thrift Store. Auction items include these upscale “finds” along with generous individual or corporate donations such as golf outings, theater tickets, gift cards, wine baskets, and much more.
“Some of us haunt thrift stores for great deals. Others don’t have the time so they make the time to attend the Sassy Soiree. The fun starts when the doors open and attendees make a bee line for the clothing boutique with prices at 75% to 80% off retail for gently used, brand new and designer fashions,” said Nani Lingig, Douglas/Elbert Task Force Secretary.
According to Lindig, all of the items offered in the clothing and jewelry boutiques are the best of donations received and have been hand picked by volunteers familiar with fine clothing and jewelry. Some of the designers represented this year are: Calvin Klein, Dolce & Gabbana, Ralph Lauren, St. John, Coach, Juicy Couture, Baby Phat, Chicos, and Coldwater Creek.
Proceeds from the annual event benefit emergency services provided to residents in need including food, rent, mortgage, utilities, household items, and hygiene. To put the needs into prospective, Lindig notes that $95,000 in utility assistance alone was provided to 513 households in 2010.
Individual tickets ($35), reserved tables for eight ($320) and runway tables for eight ($400) are on sale now. Gold, Silver and Sapphire sponsorships are also available for $4000, $2000 and $1000, respectively.
Individual or corporate donations (such as event tickets, gift cards, travel, golf, wine, etc.) and event sponsors are still needed. Items can be mailed or dropped off at the Task Force located at 1638 Park Street, Castle Rock, 80109. If you are interested in becoming an event sponsor or would like to purchase tickets, please contact Nani Lindig by e-mail or call Kathy D’amore at 303-688-1114.
