Rock Canyon to Graduate First Senior Class in 2007
by Carin Kirkegaard
Rock Canyon High School (RCHS), for the first time in the school’s history, will have its inaugural senior class walking the halls of the school August 15. With this long anticipated moment comes changes to the make up of the school.
With nearly 1,200 students attending RCHS this fall, the school was classified as a division 4A high school. The Colorado High School Activities Association classifies schools according to the number of students attending the school.
The increased student population will also bring about changes for the daily running of the school. Every classroom is assigned, and with the addition of 23 new teachers, staff will share classrooms and phones. Students will also notice the increase in numbers. Freshman and sophomores will share lockers. In addition, if the school receives more parking spot applications than the 442 spots available, the school will implement a requirement of a 2.0 grade point average for a student to be eligible for a parking spot.
