Rock Canyon High School Theater to Present “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow”
Rock Canyon High School will present its first-ever theatrical production, “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow,” in the auditorium at Rock Canyon High School, located at 5810 McArthur Ranch Rd., Highlands Ranch.
Performances are set for 7:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, December 10 and 11. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m.
From the classic tale scripted by Vera Morris and adapted by Washington Irving, the show is filled with spooky action and fun. The story begins when a goofy schoolmaster, Ichabod Crane, comes to the tired town of Sleepy Hollow and is haunted by the ghostly Headless Horseman. The chase and excitement promise to be fun for all.
Tickets may be purchased in advance, beginning November 29, or at the door. Reservations are not required. The cost is $6 for students, $4 for children 12 and under, $8 for adults. All ticket proceeds go toward future productions by Rock Canyon High School’s Theater Department.
“The Legend of Sleepy Hollow” is made possible by 100 volunteer students and parents, and by the support of area businesses. The production is directed and produced by Karen Deger McChesney of Englewood with Guest Artist/Actress Tracy Shaffer Witherspoon of Denver serving as assistant director. McChesney is a Language Arts and Theater teacher at Rock Canyon; Witherspoon teaches at Denver Center for the Performing Arts.
Rock Canyon High School opened its doors to students for the first time in August, 2004. The school currently serves 430 students, 9th and 10th grade, and is the newest high school in the Douglas County School District.
