South Metro Fire Rescue Risk Reduction Specialist Einar Jensen

Oak Hills resident Westin Carmann, a fifth grader at Buffalo Ridge Elementary School, learns about home fire escape plans from South Metro Fire Rescue Risk Reduction Specialist Einar Jensen.

In celebration of October’s National Fire Safety Week, The Exchange Coffee House, located in The Canyons development on the east side of I-25 in the City of Castle Pines, hosted South Metro Fire Rescue for a fire escape planning day.

South Metro Fire Rescue Risk Reduction Specialist Einar Jensen presented information about fire prevention and how to stay safe, what to do in case of a fire, and how to prevent a fire in the first place. He also discussed fire pits, electrical tricks and tips, as well as where to place a grill on your property.

Jensen encouraged attendees to make an evacuation plan with their families, practice the plan, go to the family meeting place (as part of the plan), take a picture of the family at the meeting place, and email Jensen the picture. In return, Jensen will send everyone in the photo 12 years of age and younger a certificate for free ice cream from Cold Stone Creamery.

“Fire safety is a year-round effort,” said Jensen. “I encourage every family to make a plan and practice it. The ice cream is just a bonus.”
