Red Hawk Organizing Ladies’ Golf Leagues
by Belinda Paredes
Women who enjoy golfing, or are considering learning the game of golf, can choose from a wide offering of ladies’ leagues at Red Hawk Ridge golf course.
The novice league is for ladies that are new to golf, or have not been able to improve their handicap below 40. The novice league consists of both an instructional evening and a nine-hole play evening.
CPN resident Karen Heskin has been involved with the Novice League for two years and says, “It is a great and economical place to learn from pros the basic rules, golf skills and etiquette surrounded by other ladies who are all at the same level. We laugh a lot and we support each other in a very non-competitive environment.”
For higher-caliber golfers, there is a nine-hole and an 18-hole ladies league. Each league has multiple flights, so players have the opportunity to play with and learn from all golfers in their league, but only compete with those at a similar handicap.
Dues for the ladies league go to support social and tournament functions throughout the year, as well as an end of the year banquet with prizes for everyone. A membership meeting is scheduled for April 5 at 7 p.m., and pre-season play begins on April 3. The first official day of league play for the season is May 1.
