Recycle live Christmas trees

Information provided by the Town of Castle Rock

While we all want to stay in the holiday spirit for as long as possible, experts recommend recycling live Christmas trees right after the holiday. Don’t let your tree take up space in a landfill. Let your last gift for the season be to the environment, and participate in the Town’ of Castle Rock’s Christmas tree recycling program.

Live trees can be taken to one of four participating parks Wednesday, December 26, through Thursday, January 31.

The participating parks are: Douglas County Fairgrounds (500 Fairgrounds Road), Founders Park (4671 Enderud Boulevard), Metzler Ranch Community Park (4175 Trail Boss Drive) and Paintbrush Park (3492 Meadows Boulevard).

The trees will be turned into mulch that will be available to the public at the Fairgrounds and Metzler Ranch Park while supplies last.

Please keep in mind, only live Christmas trees will be accepted, and not wreaths or garland. Also, yard clippings are not allowed. All lights, ornaments and tree stands should be removed. Additionally, all plastic wrap, bags, nails, bolts and wire should be taken off the tree.

Crews will come by each location to turn the trees into mulch. That mulch will be available to the public at those same locations while supplies last.
