Recent Vehicle Thefts in Castle Pines North

by Terri Wiebold

In the month of May, there were at least three confirmed vehicle thefts in Castle Pines North. This trend has a tendency to occur around the same time every year – generally coinciding with the weather turning warmer. The thefts generally occur between the hours of 11 p.m. and 6 a.m. The neighborhoods of The Retreat, King’s Crossing, and Winterberry have already been hit this year.

Although there was a suspect arrested in one of the incidents, these cases sometimes remain open for a an extended period of time and details available to the public are often limited. The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office has not confirmed if the recent thefts are related. The vehicles involved were a Honda and two Nissans.

This serves as an important reminder to always lock unattended vehicles and to never leave car keys either inside a vehicle or inside a garage used to house a vehicle. Also, close garage doors when not in use. For additional vehicle safety reminders, visit www.cpnhoa.org and read a recent posting from the DCSO entitled, “Lock it or Lose it.”
