Public sessions on regional water issues

Information provided by the DCWRA

In March, the Douglas County Water Resource Authority (DCWRA) will kick-off a process to look at ways to include rural water users in regional water infrastructure planning, quantify regional economics with and without a sustainable water supply, and identify routes to financing future water supplies.

It will begin public outreach on regional water solutions, beginning with several listening sessions at Douglas County library locations throughout the region.

Two questions will be asked. First, what do Douglas County residents believe is the biggest problem surrounding our region’s reliance upon declining water wells as a primary water supply? Second, what actions should be taken to address the issue?

Feedback from the sessions will be turned over to the committee overseeing this regional water process. The committee is comprised of one Douglas County Commissioner, plus two representatives each from the S. Metro Water Supply Authority, the Rural Water Authority of Douglas County, and the DCWRA.

For information on dates and times of the listening sessions, go to www.DCWater.org.

The DCWRA brings together municipalities, water providers and Douglas County government to focus on water education, water efficiency, and public policy surrounding water issues.
