Power Line Decision to be Announced Soon

For months, Castle Pines North Master Association has been battling Xcel Energy over its plans to replace the power lines that run through CPN with taller, more powerful, noisier ones. Residents will know the final outcome soon.

In the months since Xcel first announced its plans for the upgrade, the Master Association has formed committees and hired an attorney, in hopes of convincing the company or the government regulatory agencies to re-locate and/or bury the lines that affect the residents of CPN.

Xcel needs approval from two government agencies. Douglas County already granted Xcel’s request in November, 2003. The Colorado Public Utility Commission (PUC) will finalize its decision in February, 2004. The outcome will be shared with CPN residents via the CPN web site, in the Connection newsletter, and through a community e-mail.
