Post office technology upgrades
The post office on Village Square Lane is now able to scan QR codes for customers who are returning packages that have U.S. Postal Service (USPS) tracking. For years, customers were turned away, but recent software updates have granted the service to the smaller, contract post offices.
“We are thrilled to now have the ability to scan QR codes very quickly and efficiently so that our customers can get in and out of our stores and on their way,” said owner Karla Tartz. “We asked the USPS leadership for years to get this updated technology, and we are happy to see that it happened before the Christmas rush!”
For Amazon returns, customers have asked, “Historically I have taken packages to Whole Foods or Kohl’s or UPS. Can I bring those packages to USPS now to be returned now?”
The answer is: It depends on the company receiving the returns. If the label / QR code has USPS in its return instructions, yes. Many returns have labels or QR codes that are UPS and FedEx only. Check return instructions to make sure USPS is an acceptable drop-off location for your parcel.
