Rocky Heights Middle School (RHMS) has a valuable enrichment class called RHMS PeaceJam Leaders. PeaceJam is an international organization that pairs Nobel Peace Prize winners with youth to create change.

In the enrichment class, the kids study Nobel Laureates and focus on “me, my community, and my world” to engage in service learning projects that the kids design and implement themselves.

During first semester, the PeaceJam kids made visors and boxes of homemade cookies for the cooks, bus drivers, and security personnel at RHMS to show appreciation to the people who are often unappreciated.

This semester PeaceJam walked more than 300 miles to raise money for victims in Haiti. They raised more than $200 to benefit victims in Haiti through the Red Cross and more money is still coming in.

The PeaceJam organization has been nominated several times for the Nobel Peace Prize. To learn more about PeaceJam, visit www.peacejam.org.
