Parks Authority Update
by Lorraine Masonheimer
The Castle Pines North (CPN) Parks Authority Board met on April 19 to discuss future park development. Among the items discussed was the East-West Regional Trail Extension.
The Lagae Ranch park proposal is delayed for 30 to 60 days due to schedule conflicts with HF Holdings, LLC. The 240-acre parcel is located adjacent to HOA1 and behind King Soopers off Lagae Road. Plans could include ball fields, playgrounds and other recreational facilities.
The plans for Castle View Park remain on hold. “Without knowing the effect incorporation may have on parks or the Lagae Ranch proposal, I don’t want to make a mistake,” said Metro District and Parks Authority Board Member Bruce Thompson. “We’ll wait a few months for the information we need to make a sound decision.” The board acknowledged that progress will be made in the near future for additional parks.
Castle View Park, planned for the corner of Castle Pines Parkway and Yorkshire Drive, remains open space. The plans for the park were announced in 2004.
Monthly Parks Authority meetings are typically held on the third Thursday of each month at 8 a.m. at the Community Center, located at 7404 Yorkshire Drive. The public is encouraged to attend.
