Park adventures

group of students outside of a van

This year’s Park Adventures campers had 12 attendees and visited three parks per day during the four-day camp. The camp was filled with outdoor play and more!

The DCS Montessori activities van stayed busy during the summer Parks Adventures camp.  Campers loaded up in the van to visit and play at nearby parks that included Coyote Ridge, The Retreat, Elk Ridge, Bison, O’Brian, Rhyolite and Paintbrush Parks.

Each day was open to new opportunities and possibilities.  There were no scheduled games or activities, just free play at each park with added ‘travel’ for the campers.  On each drive, the kids created a travel game.  When the activities van was in motion, the kids flew to new destinations.  Throughout the four day camp, their imaginations traveled to Las Vegas, Texas, California, Paris and London.  Once they arrived at their destination, the campers used the parks playground equipment to ‘tour’ the city.

The sun kept shining just enough for the 12 campers to visit three parks per day and Elk Ridge twice for splash park fun.  Jack, an attending park adventure camper, said he had more fun during this one week than he has ever had.  Camper Ian said it was the best camp he had ever attended.
