What’s worse than finding out you have a doctor appointment on the last day of school when you’re just about to complete a year of perfect attendance? That was one mom’s prank on her son who had perfect attendance at Buffalo Ridge Elementary (BRE) on May 24, the school’s final day in session.
Three students were recognized for having perfect attendance for the 2016-2017 school year. Jake P. in Mrs. DiLoreto’s class, Heath C. in Mrs. Sedersten’s class, and Gavin G. in Ms. Nait’s class were awarded a 20-punch pass to the MAC center in Castle Rock. These students did not miss a single day of school, they did not arrive late, and they did not leave early for the entire school year.
Recipient Heath commented, “I’m super-excited about the MAC passes! Thanks, BRE! So, I recommend packing one vegetable in your lunch every day; even if it just sits there, it will scare all the germs away!” Mom Kendra added, “We try to practice healthy habits in our household – plenty of exercise, nutritious diet, adequate sleep, good hand washing. I believe, however, that Heath is blessed with a strong immune system. Lucky for him, he is one of those individuals who rarely gets sick.”
A special recognition was given to Gavin G. for having four straight years of perfect attendance. For this amazing accomplishment, he also received an iFly indoor skydiving pass. Why was perfect attendance important to Gavin? “I wanted to set a school attendance record, and I got a reward at the end of the year,” he commented. Between kindergarten and fifth grade, Gavin only missed one day as a kindie and 15 minutes in first grade.
