News from DCS Montessori

by Elean Gersack

This year marks the 10th anniversary of DCS Montessori. As part of the celebration, the school held a Dinner, Dance and Silent Auction at the Marriott Park Meadows on Saturday, March 10. The event was part celebration, part fundraiser, and ALL fun! More than 150 guests enjoyed a fun evening while raising money for the school. Thank you to all who attended!

AED

DCS Montessori now boasts a brand new Automated External Defibrillator (AED). In addition to a generous $500 grant from a DCS family, staff raised funds for the machine by paying to wear jeans on Fridays. As one of the few elementary schools in Douglas County with an AED, DCS is very pleased to have this life-saving piece of equipment available for students, staff and visitors to the school.

Enrollment

As a Charter School, DCS enrollment is handled differently than traditional public schools. Those interested in learning more are encouraged to visit the DCS website at www.dcsmontessori.org, and then click on “Enrollment.” The preschool enrolls students who will be three years old by September 15 and the elementary school enrolls students up to sixth grade.

Summer

The last day of school will be May 25. Students will begin the 2007-2008 school year on Monday, August 13. The school office will be open during limited hours during the summer months. Please check the website for more details.
