New face, new position on Castle Pines City Council
Following the resignation of Mayor Pro Tem and District 2 Councilman Ben Price, Castle Pines City Council appointed The Retreat resident Kori Salazar to fill the District 2 vacancy for a one-year term, and current District 1 Councilman Chris Eubanks was appointed as mayor pro tem.
Salazar followed an application and interview process open to residents living in her district, District 2. She brings a background in nonprofit management and higher education instruction to this position. Salazar worked in nonprofit program management for six years where she contributed to expanding post-secondary and career preparation youth programs in Denver, Aurora, Sheridan and Greeley.
Salazar taught public speaking, interpersonal communication and global citizenship at the University of Denver and Metropolitan State University of Denver for 10 years. She lived and worked in Villahermosa, Mexico, and San Jose, Costa Rica for three years, teaching and tutoring in a variety of subjects.
Her current focus is supporting students working toward their bachelor’s degrees in Cybersecurity as a Senior Program Mentor for Western Governor’s University. Salazar and her husband moved to Castle Pines in June 2023 to get out of the bustle of urban living and to enjoy the open spaces, miles of trails, and natural beauty that only Castle Pines offers.
“I am excited to serve as councilwoman and to advance the vision of this great city,” stated Salazar.
