When Pete Bell was displaced from his job after 16 years in the medical device industry, he was forced to take stock and assess what his next career path would be. Would he step back into medical sales or venture down the path of starting his own business?
After a great deal of research, Bell and his wife Kathy came across 101 Mobility, a national provider of mobility and accessibility equipment such as auto lifts, stair lifts, turning seats, modular ramps and platforms. 101 Mobility seemed to be a perfect fit, taking into consideration his previous work experience.
“In my previous job in medical sales, there was a great deal of satisfaction in fulfilling someone’s medical device need that would enable them to live a more productive lifestyle. With 101 Mobility, we are helping individuals stay in their home with the necessary equipment to maintain their lifestyle” explains Bell.
“We deal with a lot of overwhelmed people and folks are usually scared after being struck with physical limitations. Hospitals and rehab facilities usually will not release patients until there is equipment in place to assist them upon their return home.”
That is where Kathy comes in. Kathy is educated in Kinesiology, the study of human movement. She also brings to the business knowledge from her home care agency as well as sales experience. Kathy’s education and background gives her the insight to understand what a client may need in their transition to a lifestyle with accessibility equipment. “Right now many people are not aware of the amazing solutions that exist to assist with physical limitations and to improve one’s quality of life, in the home and around town,” says Kathy.
To round out the 101 Mobility team is Tim McCloskey, who will run their installation area. Tim has more than 20 years in the technical support and customer service areas. He has also had an independent handyman company for more than a decade.
The Castle Pines Village couple are the first to bring the 101 Mobility franchise to Colorado and they plan to expand across the state in the near future, as Colorado is one of the fastest growing populations 60 years of age and older in the U.S. By providing quality mobility products and service, the Bells are helping to empower Colorado’s aging population.
Pete and Kathy will be working with aging and disabled patients to identify which home health care devices best suit their needs and provide them the freedom to live self-sufficiently in their own homes. 101 Mobility also offers mobility products for commercial use at businesses, schools, hospitals, rehab clinics, government complexes and anywhere that has public access.
