Mini T-Rex Project to Begin at I-25 and Castle Pines Parkway
The Castle Pines North Parkway Bridge, (exit 188) over I-25, is scheduled to be replaced with a multi-lane expanded one. Construction will begin this month.
The interchange will provide a new bridge over I-25 with two lanes eastbound, two lanes westbound, and a center turn lane. A loop ramp will be constructed in the southeast quadrant providing a direct movement from eastbound Castle Pines to northbound I-25, and the northbound off ramp to Castle Pines will be relocated to allow the loop ramp construction.
Castle Pines Parkway will remain open during construction. There may be brief times at night when I-25 will close. If so, closure will occur between the hours of 11:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m. If and/or when this occurs, traffic will be funneled off and then back on the highway.
There are no plans to put in traffic signals at this time. However, conduit will be installed so that if traffic patterns warrant the need, signals may easily be installed in the future.
As part of the project, a car pool lot will be constructed in the northeast corner of the interchange. This car pool lot will initially provide 108 parking stalls, with the ability to expand to over 500 parking stalls.
This $6.8 million project has been awarded to Hamon Contractors, Inc. of Denver and will be managed by CDOT. Construction is slated to begin this month, and will last until June 2005.
