Members of the Castle Pines Metropolitan District gathered with family, friends, and community members at The Country Club at Castle Pines last month to celebrate the illustrious career and retirement of Paul Dannels, manager for the District since 1982.
Metro District Board President Joe Gschwendtner shared several memories and anecdotal stories about Paul, calling attention to Paul’s many accomplishments during his tenure – most notably the solid infrastructure set in place for the future and the creative vision brought to life in the Castle Pines Village community.
“Paul will likely be best remembered for his ‘soft hands’ and diplomacy,” said Gschwendtner. “Despite the District being a small government monopoly, Paul insisted that customer satisfaction was job one for all his employees. He was never at a loss for a smile and a can-do attitude, and he will be missed by many.”
Those who know Paul understand that “retirement” may not fully be in his vocabulary. While Paul says he sees more fishing in his future, some wonder if he may yet use a lifetime of accumulated expertise in helping other districts as a consultant.
Whatever the future holds for Paul, he has the support of his loving wife Bonnie, his family and his friends.
