Medigap special enrollment

Information provided by Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies

For those who are thinking of buying or changing a Medicare Supplement (Medigap) policy, here are two important reminders for Colorado beneficiaries.

Only beneficiaries who were eligible for Medicare prior to January 1, 2020 can still purchase Medigap Plan C or F. Do not be concerned if you are not eligible – Plan D is very similar to Plan C and Plan G is very similar to Plan F. The only difference is coverage of the Medicare Part B annual deductible which is $198 in 2020.
The Colorado Division of Insurance is making a one-time special enrollment period available to Colorado beneficiaries who have a Plan C (and want to switch to D) or have a Plan F (and want to switch to G).

The 2021 special enrollment period will be from January 1 to June 30, and beneficiaries will have a guarantee issue from any company selling the new plan in Colorado. If currently enrolled in Plan C or Plan F, beneficiaries DO NOT have to change plans, but you will have the option to do so during those six months.
