May is for mothers at Cherokee Ranch & Castle

A delightful brunch or an afternoon tea, Cherokee Ranch & Castle is catering to all things Mom in May.
Whether it is slowing down to savor some tea, enjoying a party under the veranda tent, or attending a show, the historic Cherokee Ranch & Castle (CRC) serves everything up in a spectacular fashion.
CRC is a gem, situated in the heart of Douglas County—Sedalia, that is a popular host to cultural, heritage, civic and private events. A 15th-century-style Scottish castle, CRC was built more than 100 years ago and serves as the headquarters for the Santa Gertrudis breed of cattle.
If you have never visited, May is a special time to check it out. There is a full brunch for Mother’s Day weekend, or for something lighter, moms can take time to sip some afternoon tea and take a 90-minute tour to enjoy the majestic views from the castle and to enjoy its art, antiques and rare books.
And who does not want to enjoy some music? Entertainer Leonard E. Barrett, Jr. will perform Music for Moms on Saturday evening, May 10.
“Leonard is a triple threat talent—acting, singing, dancing—known to metro Denver audiences as a leading man in the theater circuit,” said Donna Smith, a consultant for CRC.
Many events are scheduled throughout the summer months at CRC: guided hikes, wine and tequila tastings, classes and theater, including a one-person play showcasing Eleanor Roosevelt.
For kids, there are Princess Parties one Sunday a month through the end of the year.
