Lowe’s Delays Ground Breaking in Castle Rock

By Lisa Crockett

Do-it-yourselfers in Castle Pines North will have to wait a bit longer than originally expected for a new Lowe’s store to open in Castle Rock. The store, which will be built at the corner of Meadows Parkway and Santa Fe (near The Outlets at Castle Rock), was announced in July and was scheduled to be open by the end of the year. Now, however, the company expects the project to begin, not end, by the holidays.

“The project has been delayed by construction negotiations,” said Lowe’s spokesperson Karen Cobb. “We anticipate construction to begin before year’s end, provided the weather is not prohibitive.”

Construction will be completed approximately nine months after it is started. This Lowe’s store will offer 40,000 products under one roof. The home improvement warehouse will have 117,000 square feet of retail sales space. An additional 31,700 square foot garden center will offer a selection of flowers, bushes, trees and garden supplies tailored to the Colorado climate and lifestyle. A store of this size represents an average investment for the company of $18.5 million and will create up to 175 new jobs.
