At DCS Montessori (DCSM) peace education is a major component of the Montessori classroom, teaching children compassion, acceptance, kindness and understanding. Dr. Maria Montessori’s words are fitting in a world of many changes for our young. “An education capable of saving humanity is no small undertaking; it involves the spiritual development of man, the enhancement of his value as an individual, and the preparation of young people to understand the times in which they live.”
Although their environment may have changed around them, one thing that has not changed for Emerson Mitzelfelt and Aisling Ellis (pictured right) is their compassion and kindness for one another. This photo was captured in honor of Dr. Maria Montessori’s 150th Birthday Celebration (August 31st) with her quote “Of all things, love is the most potent.”
