Local Resident Opens DazBog Coffee in CPN
by Terri Wiebold
A fresher cup of coffee is what Geoff Newman, Forest Park resident and owner of the new Daz Bog Coffee in Castle Pines North (CPN), is offering to residents – young and old.
“We are a local company and all our coffee is roasted in Denver,” said Newman. “Every coffee bean we get in our store is less than five days old, while the industry average is closer to six months.”
DazBog has taken up residency in the building located at 7298 Lagae Road, at the corner of Castle Pines Parkway and Lagae Road, converting it from its former home of Washington Mutual (WaMu) to a place to gather and enjoy a good cup of coffee or a fruit smoothie in CPN.
The Russian-inspired motif of the 1,700 square foot coffee house reflects inspiration from the two immigrant brothers from the former Soviet Union whose American dream was realized when they opened the first DazBog coffee shop in Denver in 1996. Since that time, the franchise has grown to more than 20 Colorado locations.
According to Newman, the name “DazBog” comes from the Russian phrase “God of Richness.” “When you raise your glass and wish good cheer in Russia,” says Newman, “you shout ‘DazBog’.”
While Newman acknowledged he was driven by the need for additional choices for a quality cup of coffee in CPN (with the convenience of a drive thru), he also recognized that the younger population of coffee drinkers needed a place to gather. “This is not your father’s Starbucks,” said Newman.
DazBog offers outside patio seating and a large community table to meet and work while enjoying a variety of beverage choices. DazBog also offers a whole-bean coffee bar, French-press coffees, organic coffees, and a variety of retail clothing products for sale.
DazBog is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Hours may be extended for the summer months and as demand increases.
