Law enforcement runs for Special Olympics Colorado

Submitted by the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office

On Wednesday, May 4, starting at 8 a.m., deputies, police officers, and many others within Douglas County will carry the Flame of Hope, in support of a group of very special athletes associated with Special Olympics Colorado.

Deputies, police officers, security guards, civilian personnel, county employees, and members of the District Attorney’s Office will participate in the Torch Run/Walk on a large portion of the Cherry Creek Trail.

The overall route will begin at the North Pinery Trailhead and continue north on the Cherry Creek Trail. The run will end at Challenger Park at the Parker Rec Center for lunch which will be donated by generous businesses including Chick-fil-A and Lil’ Ricci’s Pizza.

As in years past, more than 900 law enforcement personnel statewide will participate in Colorado’s Law Enforcement Torch Run, May 1 through June 7. The public is invited to cheer the officers and civilians on as they carry the Flame of Hope through Douglas County.
