Claire Bauer is graduating from Rock Canyon High School (RCHS) this month and has already achieved an accomplished career in journalism.

For the past two years, Claire has been the Editor-in-Chief of the RCHS newspaper, The Rock, an award-winning and nationally recognized student newspaper.

Leading a staff of 30, Claire managed all of the content, publishing, and editing while continuing her own duties as a reporter and photographer. During her tenure at RCHS, Claire won more than 30 individual awards and 20 publication awards in journalism.

She also won the Colorado Student Media Association’s Dorothy Greer Scholarship for 2024, which Claire considers one of her proudest moments.

In addition to her duties at The Rock, Claire was involved in five honor societies: the Black & Gold Yearbook, Interact Club, Girl Scouts, Link Crew, and the Gifted & Talented Student Board. During her freshman and sophomore years, Claire was a prolific intern at The Castle Pines Connection, writing many stories for us.

Claire credits RCHS adviser Kristi Rathbun and middle school teacher Judi Holst who were invaluable mentors to her. “I want to give a little shout out to all of the teachers, friends, and family members who have helped and supported me along the way,” stated Claire.

Attending the University of Missouri this fall, Claire will, of course, major in journalism. Best wishes to you Claire!
