The Rock Canyon High School (RCHS) Back to School Night on August 24 was bustling with activity. Welcomed by principal, Kim Rauh, parents with schedules in hand, made their way through the building, meeting teachers, counselors and administrators. With the emphasis on parents connecting with teachers, Rauh said, “Teachers use this evening to build relationships with you.”
The bells were set to go off every 10 minutes to give parents enough time to meet the teacher, review the class syllabus, understand the requirements and understand the grading scales. Teachers presented their plans for the upcoming year, explained expectations, and had fun getting to know the parents. And parents realized just how complicated it can be to follow their child’s footsteps through a typical school day! New parents to the school were challenged with finding their way around the school and getting to class on time.
The Student Advisory Council (SAC) also used this gathering as an opportunity to hold its annual election of representatives to fill three open positions. RCHS staff and administrators are very excited for the upcoming school year. As principal Rauh said of her students, “You have a lot to be proud of, and we have a lot to be proud of too!”
