Household hazardous waste disposal

In the past, Tri-County Health Department ran a pop-up hazardous waste collection for Douglas County residents. The Tri-County Health Department was dissolved at the end of 2022. After that, hazardous waste collection was taken over by the Douglas County Household Hazardous Waste Collection program, which provides year-round household pickups of household hazardous waste through Waste Management, the trash company that services most residents today.

On August 27, the Castle Pines City Council approved a Memorandum of Understanding to contribute $7,500 to Douglas County so that Castle Pines residents will have access to this program in 2025. Note that a pickup will cost residents an additional $30.
